Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned Activities Director to develop, plan, and organize the Activities department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations, policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
· Understand the importance of customer service and be willing to learn resident/relative satisfaction techniques.
· Identify the lifestyles, needs, concerns, and interests of the residents and develop individual activity plans for each resident.
· Complete the activity component of the resident assessment and care plan.
· Plan and implement a wide range of activities which serve residents needs, including evening and weekend functions.
· Encourage residents to take an active part in the activities program.
· Plan, schedule and implement room visits and in‐room activities for residents unable to leave their rooms.
· Prepare and distribute an activity calendar.
· Maintain an activity attendance record for each resident.
· Act as a catalyst in developing friendships between residents.
· Appoint and advise activity oriented committees.
· Set up outside volunteer programs and to recruit, schedule and supervise volunteers.
· Aid in the orientation of new residents and serve as a resource to them.
· Plan and conduct Residents' Council.
· Interview, select, hire, schedule, evaluate, counsel, and terminate activity aides.
· Participate in the facility's budgeting process.
· Direct expenditure of the activity department's funds within the boundaries of the established
budget.
· Purchase supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner.
· Take part in in‐service education and attend all in‐service sessions relating to the Activity Program.
· Participate in committee meetings and function on committees as assigned.
· Direct implementation of and observe infection control procedures related to the Activity Program.
· Direct implementation of and observe all facility safety policies and procedures.
· Identify safety hazards and initiate corrective action.
· Assume responsibility for the safety of residents under his/her supervision.
· Direct implementation of and observe Resident's Rights policies and ensure that resident
confidentiality is maintained.
· Direct implementation of and observe facility disaster preparedness procedures.
· Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations
· Other related duties as directed by the Administrator.
