Perform highly complex (senior-level) supervisory, administrative and technical work to accomplish assigned objectives related to program operations of the Driver License Division.
Essential duties and responsibilities include assigning, training, and supervising the work activities of staff, overseeing performance of technical, training, research, planning, policy, program assessment, and administrative activities, serving as liaison to Manager and Assistant Manager, recommending and preparing action to fill vacancies, developing and implementing techniques for evaluating programs, communicating with internal and external customers, establishing program goals and objectives, administering performance evaluations, counseling and mentoring employees, maintaining employee records, participating in the development and coordination of program policies, providing guidance to employees, preparing program management and productivity reports, reviewing software specification documents, conducting investigations, overseeing maintenance of offices and equipment, performing check rides and road skills exams, preparing and conducting seminars and presentations, directing, developing, and evaluating projects, composing schedules, reports and budget expenditures, and attending work regularly.
General qualifications and requirements include graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in business management or a related field, minimum of one year of progressively responsible work experience in office management or in administration of government or business programs, one year of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred, knowledge of management and supervisory methods, performance and productivity standards, fiscal/budget management, ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy, establish and maintain positive working/professional relationships, demonstrate DPS core values, organize, prioritize, construct and deliver clear presentations, access relevant information, examine data/information, discern variations/similarities, identify trends, relationships and causal factors, grasp issues, draw accurate conclusions, solve problems, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information, work in safe manner, comply with safety standards and best practices, possibility of extended work hours, weekend work may be required.
