Rolling V Bus Corp. is seeking a School Bus Aide to assist students in safely boarding and disembarking from the school bus. The aide will participate with the bus driver in passenger management, communicate with parents/guardians and school officials, and report incidents occurring on the route. Responsibilities include assisting in the release of students to approved individuals and potentially crossing students from one side of the road to the other. The aide may also assist the driver with backing-up procedures and must act appropriately in emergencies based on training provided. The ideal candidate will have good people skills, be courteous and respectful. Typical work hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The hours may increase upon placement on a permanent bus route after the initial hire period. Training is provided and paid by the company. Requirements New Hire Packet: NYS and Federal documents and background check required for working with children and individuals with developmental disabilities. Identification: Provide satisfactory ID for employment. References: Approval for the company to contact three references provided by the applicant. Other Documentation: History of residential addresses. Background Investigation: Authorization for background checks in compliance with regulations. Pre-employment Physical & Drug/Alcohol Test: Conducted by an outside entity at company expense. Physical Performance Test: Ability to climb bus steps, exit quickly, and evacuate a person by dragging a 125 lb. weight. Training includes an initial six-hour paid pre-service session and ongoing skills training as required. The base pay rate is $16.00/hour with a daily guarantee of 4 hours. Monitors are paid for all hours worked over the guarantee.
