Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Senior Pathology Assistant provides support for the Anatomic Pathology and Cytology sections of the Laboratory.

Duties include:

• Pathologists in the collection of specimens in Bone Marrow exams and autopsies.

• Provide clerical functions and technical functions under the supervision of the Pathologists.

• Provide assistance for related tasks including stocking of supplies, cleaning equipment, record handling and storage, specimen handling, storage and disposal, and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• At least 2 years experience in a laboratory environment as either a Pathology Assistant or Laboratory Assistant familiar with handling biological material.

• Previous experience in an acute care hospital is preferred.

• Training is provided by the department specific to the work tasks needing to be done.

• Must have good oral communication skills and be able to interact with Pathologist, physicians, nursing personnel and the public as required.

• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.

• Must have a working knowledge of laboratory operations and familiarity with specimen handling processes, previous pathology experience is preferred.

• Must be computer literate.

Pay Range

$29.40 - $36.81 /hour
